Transitioning out of Business . . . And in to Being
After a year of contemplating this important decision, I have arrived at the choice to close Wellbeing Solutions. I started this business in 2016 after another period of transition (when it was time to leave my full-time job at West Virginia University). I had then, and still have now, a deep desire to creatively inspire others to know themselves more fully, to release the blockages of unproductive stress and tension, and to embody whole person wellbeing. In these ways, I sought to live life more fully, and to help others do the same.
As I make this decision, I am incredibly grateful to you! If you are reading this, you have engaged with me as a yoga student, coaching client, coach trainee, workshop or retreat participant, or blog reader. Without doubt, the greatest joy I have experienced over the past ten business years has been these interactions. Thank you for your openness to my offerings and for your trust in my teachings, and thank you for challenging me with questions that have helped me to grow.
I welcome being able to release the schedule obligations and ‘businessy’ work that I did not enjoy. Yet this choice also means a bittersweet loosening of connections with each of you. And, if I’m being completely honest, it also means letting go of a brand of which I am proud and an identity for which I have become known. These aspects leave me with a bit of an anxious ‘gulp’. Stepping into spaces of uncertainty is always a bit unnerving. But one thing I’ve learned over the years is that uncertainty is always there — none of us truly knows what tomorrow (let alone the next hour) will bring. Letting go of the busyness that masks uncertainty, and at times even creates an illusion of control, requires courage.
Once again, I make this choice with confidence and a deep clarity that underlies the reasonable fear of uncertainty. I’ll muster my courage, stay open to whatever comes next, and invite wonder, curiosity, and compassion to be my guides.
Moving forward, I will continue to offer an annual retreat, the next opportunity being Wellness, Adventure in the Dolomites. There are a few spaces left for this, and registration closes March 3rd. Info on the link above and reach out to me if you’re interested. (colleen@wellbeingwv.com)
I will likely also teach yoga again sometime in the future (I have not taken an extended break since I began teaching yoga in 1994!). I will also enjoy continuing my personal practice and studies with deeper learning.
I would also love to stay connected. If you have a question with which I can help, or just want to chat over coffee or tea, please reach out.
With immense gratitude for your support over the years, and my warmest wishes,
Colleen
